Smith, who plays Lloyd, has experience in the rodeo world
Narrative
A Montana farming family meets others encroaching on their land. Forrie J.
Costner is a masterful actor in the lead role of the Duttons
John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his Montana accent and revert to the SoCal voice he usually uses… On WatchMojo: 10 Best Summer TV Shows That Are Not on Your Radar (2018) (Review covers first two seasons only) I came into this show not expecting to like it, but the story, acting, and cinematography are great. It’s basically Montana Mob Wars with the occasional giant dose of testosterone (cowboys with guns on horses fishing)!
The show goes dark early in the second season, but picks up again halfway through
The show is at its best when it shows the chessboard moving in unison with the Duttons and their enemies. Kelsey Asbille is the weakest link in Monica and she plays it badly, the plot is awkward and the acting just falls into place.
Thomas Rainwater is also great
I think Cole Hauser as Rip may be the strongest actor (apart from Costner himself) and I couldn’t wait to see all the scenes Rip was in. The story is humming and the scenery is beautiful.
I highly recommend it and wish I hadn’t waited so long to see it
Like Cormac McCarthy’s “All the Pretty Horses”; it was a bit more raw and gritty than the title suggests, this concert is in a similar vein.
