Margo Martindale is her usual amazing selfI love all of her roles
Narrative
When maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry finds her livelihood under attack from greedy competitors who were once her friends, she hatches a scheme to exact revenge and shake up the industry. Loosely based on the 2011-2012 theft of $18 million worth of maple syrup from a warehouse in Quebec; five people were sentenced to prison. This series reminded me of the Fargo series, which I loved…it’s a high 8 in my opinion because it held my interest…it’s just sad that it’s only 6 30 minute episodes.
The supporting cast is also wonderful
I didn’t know that Canada produces over 70% of the world’s maple syrup…90% of that comes from Quebec. I remember a story about 10-12 years ago about a maple syrup heist in Quebec…millions of dollars, so I had to watch this. the story has a French/Quebec flavor (syrupy analogy lol).
The story is a drama but with some tasteful comedy
The music is interesting as all these familiar hits are tastefully recreated in the French language with beautiful voices. The setting is so rural Quebec which lends a realism to the story. Jamie Lee really adds to it and it was great to see her back on screen.
a must watch
It’s not a long drawn out series like many so it’s a nice change of pace… I highly recommend it… Your guide to all the new movies and shows streaming on Prime Video in the US this month.
